Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Variant (“Variant,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Variantapp, website, and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: your phone number (used to sign in), and, if you provide them, your email address, username, and profile details such as your investment philosophy and stock picks.
Photos & content: selfies you upload to create your avatar, and the text, videos, and other content you create or generate.
Usage & device data: how you interact with the Service (for example, videos viewed, likes, follows, and content generated), along with device and log information such as app version and general diagnostics.
Purchases: token purchases are processed by the Apple App Store; we receive confirmation of a purchase but not your full payment card details.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to: create and secure your account; deliver one-time sign-in codes; generate your avatar and requested content; operate, personalize, and improve the Service; provide the feed, rankings, and community features; process token purchases; communicate with you; enforce our Terms; and comply with legal obligations.

3. Face Data & AI Processing

Face data. When you choose to create an avatar, you voluntarily upload a selfie (a photograph of your face). We use this face data solely to generate your stylized realistic and cartoon avatar. We do not use it for facial recognition or identity verification, we do not create a biometric template or faceprint, and we do notmatch it against any database or use it to identify you. The app does not use Apple’s Face ID/TrueDepth or any biometric API to collect this data.
How it is processed and shared.To render your avatar, your selfie is processed by our AI image-generation provider(s) acting on our behalf, solely to create the avatar. It is not sold and is not shared with any third party for that party’s own purposes.
Where it is stored. Your selfie and the generated avatar images are stored by our storage provider (Vercel Blob) in the United States. The generated avatars are shown on your profile and in content you create; your original selfie is kept private.
Retention and deletion.We retain your selfie and avatars while your account is active (so you can regenerate your avatar without re-uploading). You can permanently delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account), which deletes your selfie and generated avatars, or you may email us at contact@variantmkt.com to request deletion.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with service providers who help us operate the Service, including: SMS delivery (Twilio), AI generation providers, hosting and storage (Vercel and our database provider), product analytics (PostHog), and payments (Apple). We may also share information to comply with law, protect our rights and users’ safety, or in connection with a business transfer. Content you choose to publish (such as your channel, avatar, and posts) is visible to other users.

5. Analytics

We use analytics (including PostHog) to understand how the Service is used and to improve it. This may include events tied to your account so we can measure features and funnels. You can limit some tracking through your device settings.

6. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business or legal purposes. You can permanently delete your account and associated personal data — including your selfie and generated avatars — at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account), or by contacting us as described below.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Choices & Rights

You may access or update certain profile information in the app. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. You can delete your account and personal data directly in the app (Profile → Delete account). To exercise other rights, contact us at contact@variantmkt.com.

9. Children

The Service is intended for users 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

10. International Users

We operate in the United States, and your information may be processed there and in other countries where our providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer and processing.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will update the date above and, for material changes, may notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
